As the president and founder, Janice knows that the company’s success depends on a client focus. Janice works with the rest of the Hughes Communications team, providing strategic guidance and counsel to ensure that your message, coverage and support are first class. Solidly committed to achieving the best for each client, Janice enters the trenches, calling editors with client news and requests for interviews. As well, Janice develops and leads the company’s strategy, driving corporate growth.

After seven years of communications-related experience, Janice entered the embedded market in 1994 as a technical editor for Circuit Cellar INK, an international computer-engineering magazine devoted to embedded systems development. After two years as a technical editor, Janice moved on to become managing editor–a position that well acquainted her with the challenges of recruiting technically solid articles. As editor, Janice came to understand what characterizes good PR.

As a corporate speech writer for a nuclear power facility, Janice learned the ins and outs of crisis communications. Janice’s first communications company, based in Canada, specialized in information technology, engineering, computing and health sciences. Janice gave lectures in English and writing skills development at the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University.

Janice obtained her M.A. in English, specializing in Canadian Literature, from Dalhousie University and her B.A. Honours in English from the University of Calgary.
